Start from Something Familiar – 2

Ok. Here is my progress so far on digitally painting that portrait by Raphael. I don’t know what else to do. I’ve been going back and forth, building dark and lights. Which I’ve heard before is what NOT to do when painting with real oil medium. You supposed to start building the dark and slowly layer the lights. I’ve found that I’m hesitant to slap on real dark colors. I don’t know why, considering that there is such a thing as Apple+E command and easily adjusted layers. (Note to self: build shadow, less hesitant.) I need feedback, I’m hitting a wall. I wish someone will do a demo for me in person, or tips. It looks like that I’ll be hitting the www, to find more tutorial. Here is the progress so far.
